Phil is a software engineer with extensive experience designing and building
real-time embedded systems.
Originally trained as a hardware engineer, he now focuses primarily on the lower layers of software--firmware and drivers--that interface directly with the hardware. His hardware background has proven to be especially valuable when bringing up new hardware, sometimes with unproven silicon and even unproven compilers. Phil's projects have included porting real-time multitasking operating systems to new CPU architectures and new boards. In recent years he has expanded his expertise to include web-based technologies such as Perl-CGI and MySQL. Phil has had considerable experience working with processors of the MIPS architecture. He co-authored a popular book, The MIPS Programmer's Handbook, wrote the still widely-used debug monitor PMON, and has created and presented numerous training classes on MIPS hardware and software. Phil is available for contract projects. His resume provides a detailed description of his expertise and work experience. Contact him to discuss your project. |
